51,371 views of the Vamp on YouTube
With 51,371 views so far on YouTube the Vamp has been getting a lot of attention. It's also been getting a lot of comments. My favorite is this: First off, Twilight is horrible. It does no justice to real vampire legends at all. Vampires don't fucking sparkle. They don't feast on animals rather than humans just because they don't want to hurt them. AND THEY CAN'T HAVE SEX. Tell me, if no blood pumps through their body, how can they get it up? I'm not trying to be humorous, it's the fucking truth. This is the last straw. I can't believe someone would make something like this. I mean, honestly. Are Twilight fans that fucking desperate? | | Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 | | 5:18 pm |

Meme
A meme I signed up for! Of 5 subjects/things they associate me with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given. crista gave me 5 Fuck me gently with a chainsaw, Modern Day Superhero, good wine *I blame your icon for that*, puppy parenting, and sailing. Fuck me gently with a chainsaw was actually a code name for the dildo we make called Charmer. Kelly, our production manager at the time, named it that upon seeing the master because it does have teeth. But in playing with the prototype it quickly became Jenn's, our graphic artist/ office person at the time, favorite. She became so amazingly smitten that I told her she better come up with a really good name because it wasn't going to win sales by looks alone. The teeth, or steps, actually make your pc muscle automatically bare down as it is put in or taken out- playing on your g-spot the whole time. You don't even need to know where your g-spot is- the Charmer finds it every time. It remains one of our best sellers, especially when you know how it works. Modern Day Superhero. We'll I've been called worse. LOL I have had countless people tell me they wanted to be me, The president and founder of Tantus Inc creator of sexual health products, but really all you need is a sense of purpose and passion. As I see it, very few people love what they do. The fact that I do think I've changed the world a little bit certainly helps keep my energy going. It wasn't that Tantus was the first silicone out there, but we did bring safe sex to the mainstream. We made enough products efficiently and cost effectively that we could sell through the channel (through distributors where most stores find us). Still there's lots to do. Consumers have no idea what's in the products they put in their body- many are unsafe and we need to stand up and argue about this publicly to demand accountability. With public pressure and non affiliated lab analyse the chemistry we can certify a product the reassure consumers of what they are buying. More about SHEE soon. Good wine. Well the image on my icon is just table wine in Rotterdam Netherlands, it wasn't exactly good, but I do cherish GOOD wine. Having grown up in Northern California I started my wine education early. My ex inlaws actually let me, at family celebrations, share the wine from the time I was 17. I started with blush, went to white then matured to the reds. A good glass of wine is the perfect addition to a moment. Puppy Parenting hmm. There are two ways to take this: one is to talk about Puppy Play the other Hamlet parenting. Puppy Play is something I used to research in my old blog (that was deleted). I made a lot of friends who did puppy play and asked them about the dynamics. While I've never wanted to be either puppy or owner, I really understand this BDSM where the majority is petting and praise (a little humiliation and swatting with a newspaper- but hopefully your a good puppy, not a bad one peeing on the carpet). Hamlet parenting is a joy. He is such a sweet dog (though at 3 he's technically no longer a puppy). His bad habits are getting up on our bed (though it's ok when we put his blanket on our bed) and behaving viciously towards the mailman who every day stuffs things into our house (uninvited). Hamlet is calm and playful and has an excellent reverse (a good thing when your dog weighs 180ish). Sailing I'm changing to boating. I haven't been sailing in years (probably 19 or 20). Boating we do every morning during the summer. We bought our first boat last year and put on 100 hours wakeboarding. At the end of the season, now that we knew what we were doing, we traded it in on a better model. Unfortunately the Bay is too cold right now so our last excursion was just relaxation in the sun with a couple of bottles of wine (rough life). Come to San Diego and come aboard. | | Sunday, February 8th, 2009 | | 9:29 am |
Why we need to protect families- all families Posted on Fri, Feb. 06, 2009 Gay woman fights over hospital visitation rights in Miami court BY LAURA FIGUEROA As her partner of 17 years slipped into a coma, Janice Langbehn pleaded with doctors and anyone who would listen to let her into the woman's hospital room. Eight anguishing hours passed before Langbehn would be allowed into Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. By then, she could only say her final farewell as a priest performed the last rites on 39-year-old Lisa Marie Pond. Jackson staffers advised Langbehn that she could not see Pond earlier because the hospital's visitation policy in cases of emergency was limited to immediate family and spouses -- not partners. In Florida, same-sex marriages or partnerships are not recognized. On Friday, two years after her partner's death, Langbehn and her attorneys were in federal court, claiming emotional distress and negligence in a suit they filed last June. Jackson attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the case on grounds that the hospital has no obligation to allow patients' visitors. Following a hearing lasting more than an hour Friday, U.S. District Judge Adalberto Jordan said he would try to decide soon whether the case could proceed to trial. He gave no specific date. MARRIAGE AMENDMENT The suit is winding its way through federal court only months after voters approved the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. The statewide amendment garnered more than 62 percent of voters -- surpassing the 60 percent threshold required for ratification. Supporters of Florida's Amendment 2 -- mostly conservatives and Christian groups -- argued it was needed to protect families and the traditional institution of marriage by promoting homes with a mom and a dad. Opponents argued that gay and straight, unmarried Floridians risked losing domestic partner benefits, such as health insurance, hospital visitation rights and the ability to make end-of-life decisions. NO CONSULTATION At Friday's hearing, Langbehn's lawyers argued the case should be tried because Langbehn had the proper documentation to make medical decisions on behalf of her partner, and was not consulted about Pond's condition for hours despite seeking answers every 20 minutes. ''This is not just about same-sex couples,'' said attorney Donald Hayden, who is also representing the Langbehn family. ``This is about protecting the legal access that a parent has to see a child, or an essential loved ones right to be aware of what is going on with their loved one.'' Attorneys for Jackson argued that hospital staff did not purposely try to harm the family or cause emotional stress. ''There's just not enough there to say that these doctors intentionally tried to cause distress,'' attorney Andrew Boese told the judge. Pond's medical problems began in February 2007 when she, Langbehn and their three adopted children were aboard a cruise ship docked in Miami. The Washington state couple and their children were on vacation. Pond suddenly collapsed from a heart attack and was rushed to the trauma center. Though Langbehn had documents declaring her Pond's legal guardian and giving her the medical ''power of attorney,'' Jackson officials refused to recognize her or the kids as family. Langbehn, who still lives in Washington, was not available for comment Friday, but in a 2007 interview with The Miami Herald she said, ``Any family should have the right to hold their loved one's hand in the last moments of life, and we were denied that.'' Langbehn's supporters are livid about the hospital's actions. ''We are here to ensure that families get the respect they deserve at Jackson Memorial Hospital and to prevent Janice's tragedy from happening to anyone else,'' said Beth Littrell, an attorney for Lambda Legal, a national group that fights for the civil rights of gays. ``This family deserves to have its day in court.' | | Friday, February 6th, 2009 | | 7:41 pm |

Finally a trade organization for the sexual health industry Ok this has been in the works for a while... a trade organization for sexual health, education and entertainment. An organization made up of people who care and can work together to make a strong community. We want to include stores, manufacturers, party business women, authors, clerks, bloggers, health workers and everyone who wants to be a part of change.
The press release just got to me- and now to you. MetisFor Immediate Release: SHEE Sexual Health Trade Group Launches at Love LA January 25th Los Angeles, CA, January 13, 2009 Seeking to organize sex-positive retailers, organizations, distributors, and manufacturers in the adult industry into a powerful force for change and progress, the SHEE adult trade association will debut January 25, 2009 with its 2nd annual Love LA Show at the Music Box/Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA. The brainchild of a collective group of attendees at last year’s debut Love LA event, the SHEE group (which stands for Sexual Health, Education, and Entertainment – www.sheegroup.org) mission will be to cast sexuality under the umbrella of overall health, focusing on promoting healthy sexuality as vital to not only sustaining relationships/marriages, but as an undeniable component of overall well-being. SHEE will bring together a wide variety of companies, educators, retailers, experts, and medical health professionals to assist in redefining the landscape under which the adult industry is defined. SHEE will also be a resource for members to provide and dispense information, including new and present product offerings, training (in the form of video, text, and audio), distribution points, services, and pricing, as well as a vehicle for which accurate information is propelled into the mainstream consciousness. As a not-for-profit organization, funding will be provided by revenue generated at several planned “Love” events, as well as private contributions, membership dues, and advertising on its website and planned newsletter publication. “Our goal is to create an unbiased, reliable repository of sex-positive information accessible to professionals seeking to better people’s lives through the dissemination of accurate information, safe and effective products, fun and dignified retail outlets, and credentialed professionals spreading accurate and timely sex-related information,” said Love LA creator Ian Denchasy. “As we build SHEE company by company, I envision some sort of independent product testing matrix, a set of guidelines for adult stores and websites to have at our disposal, and perhaps even a credit union or fund in which adult companies and entrepreneurs could obtain small loans or lines of credit at competitive rates.” Metis Black, president of Tantus added, “It’s time we distinguished ourselves from some of the negative elements that have dragged down our overall public image – SHEE is a great way to begin to build the new sex industry and move it forward.” As such, SHEE will disassociate itself from the porn industry, which the group views as its own separate entity. “We understand the intertwining of porn and novelties from a historical perspective,” Denchasy stated, “And we acknowledge that pornography is not in any way something we cast aspersion toward; however, we think it’s time for pornography to prosper as its own distinct industry.” For more information regarding SHEE, contact Ian Denchasy at freddy@freddyandeddy.com (phone 310-915-0380). | | Thursday, December 25th, 2008 | | 6:08 pm |

The Publishing Industry Changes and no one pays attention
OK I just had to search this out again and let me tell you what a bitch it was to find. Why? Because no one is talking about it- it isn't real news. But to some of us who are interested in both authors making a living wage and stores who can't afford the minor margins of book sales this is HUGE (or it could be) because it could change the industry. ------------------------ Dec 16 (Reuters) – Borders Group Inc (BGP.N), the second-largest U.S. bookseller, will accept books from publisher HarperStudio on a nonreturnable basis, departing from a decades-old publishing tradition, the Wall Street Journal reported. Industry practice dating from the 1930s allowed retailers to return unsold titles to publishers for full credit and without incurring shipping costs, the newspaper said. These titles, about 30 percent to 40 percent of all titles according to industry figures, eventually get sent back to the stores for heavily discounted sale, the paper added. According to the WSJ, under the deal Borders will get a deeper discount on initial orders of books from HarperStudio in exchange for not returning any unsold books. The paper quoted HarperStudio's president and publisher Robert Miller saying that the economic downturn has made publishers and booksellers more open to experimenting with models that might decrease waste and increase profit. HarperStudio is the new imprint of News Corp's (NWSa.N) HarperCollins Publishers. Borders Group and NewsCorp could not be immediately reached for comment. (Reporting by Eric Yep in Bangalore; Editing by Erica Billingham) --------------------------------------- Imagine no pulping! Authors and stores (and probably publishers as well) have had a system that hasn't worked. It's about time to rework it. | | Friday, December 5th, 2008 | | 1:25 pm |

Finally some common sense- Gay adoption in Florida
Miami judge rules against Florida gay adoption ban By CURT ANDERSON, AP Legal Affairs Writer Curt Anderson, Ap Legal Affairs Writer Tue Nov 25, 5:33 pm ET MIAMI – A judge on Tuesday ruled that a strict Florida law that blocks gay people from adopting children is unconstitutional, declaring there was no legal or scientific reason for sexual orientation alone to prohibit anyone from adopting. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman said the 31-year-old law violates equal protection rights for the children and their prospective gay parents, rejecting the state's arguments that there is "a supposed dark cloud hovering over homes of homosexuals and their children." She noted that gay people are allowed to be foster parents in Florida. "There is no rational basis to prohibit gay parents from adopting," she wrote in a 53-page ruling. Florida is the only state with an outright ban on gay adoption. Arkansas voters last month approved a measure similar to a law in Utah that bans any unmarried straight or gay couples from adopting or fostering children. Mississippi bans gay couples, but not single gays, from adopting. The ruling means that Martin Gill, 47, and his male partner can adopt two brothers, ages 4 and 8, whom he has cared for as foster children since December 2004. "I've never seen myself as less than anybody else," Gill said. "We're very grateful. Today, I've cried the first tears of joy in my life." He said the two boys have been practicing writing their new last names, and the older one said: "That's what's going to make us a family." Attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union, who represent Gill, said the case was the first in the nation in which numerous experts in child psychology, social work and other fields testified that there is no science to justify a gay adoption ban. The state planned a swift appeal, likely setting up a battle that could reach the Florida Supreme Court. A judge in gay-friendly Key West also found the law unconstitutional in September, but that ruling has not been appealed and has limited legal reach. The state presented experts who claimed there was a higher incidence of drug and alcohol abuse among gay couples, that they were more unstable than heterosexual unions and that the children of gay couples suffer a societal stigma. Organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association and American Psychiatric Association all support permitting same-sex couples to adopt. Lederman rejected all the state's arguments soundly. "It is clear that sexual orientation is not a predictor of a person's ability to parent," the judge wrote. "A child in need of love, safety and stability does not first consider the sexual orientation of his parent. The exclusion causes some children to be deprived of a permanent placement with a family that is best suited to their needs." Florida Assistant Attorney General Valerie Martin said an appeal would be filed on behalf of the state Department of Children & Families. She declined additional comment. Neil Skene, special counsel for DCF, said the judge did an "excellent job" on the case, but the department still must enforce state law. He noted that DCF placed the foster children with Gill. "We think this is a wonderful foster parent," Skene said. Reaction came quickly from advocates of gay, lesbian and transgender parents who have long considered Florida's law the most draconian in the nation. Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of the Boston-based Family Equality Council, said the decision is a "long-overdue recognition of the equal ability of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to raise happy, healthy families." "The best interests of children should be decided by parents, families, professionals and judges, not opportunistic politicians and interest groups," Chrisler said. John Stemberger, chairman of a successful drive earlier this month to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in Florida, called the ruling "classic judicial activism" and predicted it would be reversed on appeal. "Everywhere in the law where children are affected, the standard must always be what is in the best interest of the child," said Stemberger, an attorney in Orlando. "What is stunning to me is that when it comes to dealing with gays, that standard goes out the window. Children do better with a mother and a father." ___ | | Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 | | 5:25 pm |
